One day, our founder Tess was wandering through a charity shop when she noticed a bin filled with discarded second-hand plushies. Like most people, her first thought was that they were used, worn, and probally a bit dirty.
But something made her pause.
Maybe it was the feeling of losing her own favourite teddy on a busy highway as a young girl. Maybe it was the way one plush seemed to be looking back at her. Whatever it was, Tess leaned in for a closer look.
These fluffy friends had once belonged somewhere.
They had been cherished.
They had been someone’s best friend.
So why weren’t they deserving of a second chance?
That small spark became the beginning of Little Strays, a place dedicated to giving as many of these soft buddies a new home and a new story.
